What is it?
RAPOXY® is a glass-like, high-gloss, highly-resistant coating composition for floors covered with Rasch wallpapers. Using RAPOXY® coated floors, typical design limits become a thing of the past as walls and floors blend into each other, and rooms are suffused with new visual and tactile qualities.
This product innovation gives you access to wallpaper through a new dimension, and, opens up a category of design possibilities never seen before.
Why I have been won over by RAPOXY®!
RAPOXY® makes it possible to connect the vertical and horizontal room axes. That is of course possible with tiles and mosaic, but it was never as easy or as varied as the range of wallpapers offered by Rasch. Ornaments that run from the wall into the floor, adding highlights in granite, wood and carpet – that’s how I understand modern room design. RAPOXY® encourages experimentation and taking new directions in interior design. Markus Benesch, world renowned German industrial and commercial designer
How does it work?
The Basic system consists of Rasch wallpapers, RAPOXY® -primer and RAPOXY® -glossy. Application is simple:

- Inspect the surface for: dryness/moisture; stability; strength; surface cracking; evenness; and cleanliness
- Prime, smooth, and seal the surface
- Apply the wallpapers using the “paste the wall technique” for non-woven wallcoverings.
- Then apply the RAPOXY® primer and Glossy coats allowing time for the surface to dry between each step.

Where can you use it?
Many sophisticated commercial zones requiring not only creative brilliance but hard wearing surfaces demand RAPOXY®.
RAPOXY® presents endless creative opportunities in a highly sophisticated and resilient flooring system. Retail businesses, shops, small offices, hotels, lobbies, corridors/hallways, conference rooms; even residential floor surfaces can take the next step in room design with rapoxy®.
The flooring system is suitable for surfaces that need high mechanical and chemical resilience, requiring a floor that is wear resistant, hygienic and easy to clean.
In foodstuff areas
Furthermore the product has been inspected for use in foodstuffs areas by the Nehring Institute in Braunschweig. The inspections confirm that RAPOXY® -glossy does not emit substances into foodstuffs which are critical for health, smell or taste. The product has been tested for use in the food sector by the Nehring Institute GmbH, D-38112 Braunschweig.
Wet and moist
RAPOXY® is also suitable for use in wet and moist rooms.
The history of an idea
Marcus Benesch, world renowned German industrial and commercial designer, spent many years manipulating space with patterns. In his quest to extend this further he began experimenting with flooring pattern designs to create an overall-pattern space. He had already made attempts in the 90’s to apply printed motifs to wooden sheets and seal them with varnish. He used this idea again to lining floors with digitally printed wallpapers at the Milan Furniture Fair.
Afterwards, in the subsequent years, numerous flooring surfaces in European and Asian exhibitions, on trade-fair stands and in large stores were produced using the same process.
In 2007, Dario Rasch, Rasch Managing Director, Mauro Jannelli, Managing Director of Jannelli & Volpi S. r. l., and Markus Benesch met during the preparations for the “FANTABULOSA” exhibition in Milan. Dario immediately saw the potential of the idea and the industrialisation of wallpaper for floors began.
A new concept influenced by the creativity of the renowned designer Markus Benesch, combined with the expertise of the Institut für Bau- und Fußbodentechnik GmbH (ISH-Institute for construction and flooring technology) at the initiative of Rasch, with its diversity of decoration possibilities, was realised in the RAPOXY® product.
